Growing Roots Subscription Box Review
Hello friends! It's been far too long that I've posted here and I'm so excited to share my review of all of the fabulous items I received in my first Growing Roots box! Don't miss out on the special promotion code at the bottom of this post to receive 25% off your first box! I received this box for free in exchange for my honest opinion.
What is Growing Roots?
Growing Roots is a new subscription box for moms. It is a delightfully curated package that encourages reading and inspires making memories with your family. The inspiration for this box came when Christina, the owner, noticed an empty bookshelf in the nursery of her sister's soon to be born baby. She asked herself, "What does a new mother need?" and "What will help new parents provide a healthy foundation for their child?" Being a mom herself, she concluded that books, all natural products and clever parenting tricks are some of the items she wished she had when she was a new mom, and Growing Roots was born! The Growing Roots box is $39 + shipping and offers a month-to-month cancel anytime subscription or a 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions. Their boxes ship between the 8th-10th of every month. For every box sold, Growing Roots donates a book to a child in need.
The box I received is the Limited Edition $49 Ultimate Growing Roots box, but they are now offering the $39 box without the books. Below are a bit about the items I received and my honest review of them.
My tired mama eyes loved this soothing Jasmine rice filled eye pillow. It can be used for heat therapy by placing it in the microwave for 30 seconds or cold therapy by placing it in the freezer for 30 minutes. The cover is made of 100% cotton and can easily be removed for washing. You can also add a few drops of essential oil (such as lavender) to the rice bag from some aromatherapy,
Lavender Bath Salt
I never liked baths until I became pregnant with Mackenzie and now a days they are how I like to unwind after a long day! This jar contains a blend of sea salt, epson salt, baking soda and lavender essential oil and smells heavenly! Little Flowers Soap Co. is a Michigan based company established in 2010 by a husband and wife team and they are perfecting completely natural, healing recipes that smell amazing, really work and are cutely packaged!
Full disclosure: I have not planted my lavender seeds....yet. I did some research online and being someone who struggles to keep my houseplants alive, the process to grow lavender seeds sounds a bit intimidating. However, I love the smell of lavender and it's sleep inducing and anxiety reducing properties so I do plan on giving it a fair shot and will let you all know how it goes!
"Someday" by Alison McGhee
I absolutely adore this book about how a mother's love leads to her dream for her child to live life to it's fullest. The words are so simple but so beautiful and the illustrations are adorable. I would definitely recommend this book to all moms!
This bedtime chart is designed as a fun way to help children complete their nightly routine and to track their progress as they move magnets. It is made of durable all natural wood and a silver metal plate and includes 6 magnet wood tiles. The bedtime chart is made by a Utah based company called Abbie's House and they make products that help with organizing your home and family life. I am a huge organization freak and am all about routine and making learning fun, so this is right up my alley! However, Mac is not quite 1 years old yet, so I'll be storing this in my mama toolbox for when she's a little bit older!
"The Going to Bed Book" by Sandra Boynton
I was so excited when I saw this book in the box! We don't own it, but I remember reading it to the kids I used to nanny and now I get to read it to Mac! It's about energetic animals getting ready for sleep and is written with a mesmerizing rhyme and rhythm. Defintely a great book to add to any kid's nightly routine! Oh and I also love that it's a smaller board book because Mac loves to "read" herself and she can't tear the pages out!
"Ten Apples Up On Top" by Dr. Seuss
This book was my "bonus gift" and who doesn't love a good Dr. Seuss book! My parents read them to me growing up and I thought I had heard them all, but I had never read this one! It's super cute, of course, and is also great for practicing counting! I also love that this is small enough to keep in the car or pack in my diaper bag!
