5 Ways to Spend QT w/ Dad + Enter to Win $100 off a JORD Watch !
First, let me start off by saying my husband, the father to my daughter, is hands down the hardest working man I know. Between his full-time job and doing extra work on the side, he easily works 40+ hours a week to financially support us. With that being said it, it is always a top priority of mine to make sure that the time we do get to spend with him is quality time. The current cold temps of winter have made it a little more difficult to get out lately, but I've complied a list of 5 things we like to do that ensure we get our quality time in with Dad regardless of the weather (and don't cost money)!
Ok, this one may sound obvious and hopefully it's something you already do, because I believe early literacy is very important, but we love reading books with Dad. Mac and I read a lot of books during the day while Dad is at work, but we have different reading styles. So it's nice to switch it up a bit and let Dad read. You should see Mackenzie's face light up when he reads her a book. He likes to change his voice and sometimes make up words that have us all giggling. Reading with Dad is probably one of the easiest ways to ensure quality time and a few laughs!
Between Dustyn and myself, we have something going on almost every evening during the week so getting all three of to sit down at the table for a meal doesn't always happen, but when we make it a point to do so, we always enjoy it. I've said this before, but I'm not a great cook, so it's not about making a gourmet meal, but rather us being together and enjoying each other's company and having a little fun. One way we like to keep it fun is by having food fights, yes you read that right, we have food fights. Food fights are a great way to just let loose and remember what it feels like to be a kid again. Mackenzie basically has her own food fight every night so when we join in she just laughs and laughs. I highly recommend having a little food fight with Dad at your next family meal!
Ever since Mackenzie was born my husband and I have found ourselves making up songs. I mean you can only sing "The Wheels on the Bus" and "The ABC's" so many times, so we started making up silly songs about what we were doing at the moment or anything that comes to mind really! Our voices are awful and we probably sound like crazy people, but Mackenzie doesn't know the difference! It's a great way to be creative and keeps everyone engaged!
Who doesn't like a good dance party?!? We love to turn on the music and just move our bodies. Mackenzie loves when her Dad holds her and dances around the house and I love watching! Not only is it a great way to interact but it's a great way to get a little exercise in!
Ok so all of the above may fall under the category of "playing" but what I mean is actually get on the floor with your child and play! So many times Dustyn and I will be on the couch zoned out while Mackenzie plays on the floor, but to ensure QT we like to get down there with her! She recently got a tea set from her GG and I can't tell you how many tea parties we've had and it seriosuly never gets old!
